• • Here is Today's Weather Discussion: The weekend will be sunny with a few high clouds from the storms off the coast that are dissipating as they hit the large high pressure area over the western U.S......Temperatures across northern California will be 4 to 8 degrees above normal......The dry airmass and calm winds means cold tonight in the valleys and low lying areas......Monday will be mostly sunny and cooler as the high pressure area moves northward into western Canada......Tuesday the high will be over western Canada and this will allow the Pacific jetstream to split and push the weaker south end of the storm toward the California coast......This system will bring precipitation to the north state Tuesday with most of it on the coast and coast range with only scattered light showers inland......Wednesday another high pressure area is building behind the storm along the California coast......This high pressure area will hook up with the one over Canada and as this happens the low or storm off our coast will be forced southward......So some clouds and a little precipitation Tuesday and early Wednesday with snow levels near 4000 feet......The high pressure ridge is back in control Thursday and Friday for sunny and above normal temperatures.****The weather discussion is provided courtesy of Chris Fontana, aka "The Old Forecaster".....Chris is a retired National Weather Service meterologist who specialized in fire weather forecasting in Northern California for over 30 years!......He posts daily weather discussions on his website, The Northern California Weather Blog.****For the latest Road Conditions from CalTrans, Click Here......For the latest Highway and Weather Webcams, Click Here. •
