Severe winter weather delayed the start of the first United Nations airlift of aid items from Iraq's autonomous Kurdistan region to neighbouring Syria, a spokesman said on Thursday. "It appears... the weather in Qamishli has delayed the start of the airlift, as well as prevailing conditions across the region," UN refugee agency (UNHCR) regional spokesman Peter Kessler told AFP, referring to the city in northeast Syria to which aid supplies are to be flown.
According to the latest trend forecast by Baum + Whiteman out of New York, most of the trends poised to recast American drinking habits in 2014 will be spearheaded by coffee giant Starbucks for a series of beverages that are everything but java-based. When the multinational chain acquired tea specialist Teavana last year, for example, the writing was on the boutique walls: premium teas would become the next big beverage. Starbucks has made no secret of its plans to diversify its portfolio away from coffee -- a commodity vulnerable to the effects of climate change and rising prices. When they bought out Teavana, the company said that it planned to “transform the tea industry.”
Some US orders of Motorola's Moto G are delayed due to severe weather conditions. As Android Central reports, Motorola is contacting affected customers individually to inform them of the delay. It appears that the hold-up hasn't affected everyone, as some have received their orders directly from Motorola, but several users that pre-ordered expecting their phones to arrive on the 4th have seen their delivery date pushed back to as far as the 17th. In a letter published by Android Central, Motorola explains and apologizes for the delay, before offering an upgrade to overnight delivery for free. Although Motorola can't be held accountable for inclement weather conditions, the Moto G issue comes after the company spectacularly failed with an attempted Cyber Monday sale last month.
